Beginner children

Building a strong foundation from the beginning.

Lessons focus on:

  • Proper grip and racquet preparation
  • Forehand and backhand fundamentals
  • Developing a consistent contact point
  • Footwork and positioning
  • Serving fundamentals
  • Learning to rally
  • Developing confidence and enjoyment on court

I want young players to learn good habits early, while keeping lessons engaging and appropriate for their age and experience.

Beginner and recreational adults

Whether you are completely new to tennis or returning after years away, we work on reliable fundamentals and a stroke technique you can build on.

Lessons can include:

  • Forehand and backhand technique
  • Serve technique
  • Volleys
  • Footwork and court positioning
  • Rallying and consistency
  • Learning to construct points
  • Singles and doubles fundamentals

Rather than simply getting the ball over the net, the goal is to help you understand how to hit the ball well and why the technique matters.

Hitting sessions

Improve your game by hitting with a stronger player.

Hitting sessions are for players who already have some tennis experience and want more challenging, consistent court time. I adjust the pace, depth and difficulty of the hitting to your level, so you can work on your technique while playing against a stronger ball. Useful if you want to:

  • Develop more consistent groundstrokes
  • Practice hitting with greater pace or spin
  • Work on specific shots
  • Improve rally tolerance
  • Prepare for league or tournament play
  • Get more quality repetition
  • Build confidence playing against a stronger opponent

I can also work specific drills or patterns into a session when there is something particular you want to cover.

My coaching philosophy

Good technique gives you options.

I focus on developing fundamentals that hold up as you improve: sound stroke mechanics, good footwork, balance, spacing and preparation. Once those foundations are in place, we can work on adding pace, spin, consistency, placement and eventually more advanced tactics. My aim is not simply to help you hit one good shot. It is to help you develop a repeatable technique and a better understanding of the game, so that your tennis keeps improving beyond the lesson.
